07/31/2004: Diamond Data Systems Receives $371,000 for Employee Training
State Incumbent Worker Training Program Proves to be Valuable
Diamond Data Systems (DDS) of New Orleans was recently awarded its second training grant through the Incumbent Worker Training Program (IWTP) from the State of Louisiana. The grant, which was officially awarded back in June is for $371,206. HR Manager, Rebekah Millet says, "that this grant provides DDS with an excellent opportunity to provide training to their employees that they would not otherwise be able to do."
Training subjects range from the very technical such as Peoplesoft, Oracle, XML and .Net to the non-technical such as supervisory management, effective presentations and communications. There are also several certification programs on the grant including PMP (Project Management), CISSIP, CCIE, CCNA, and MSCE. Rebekah Millet says "Clients of DDS have come to expect an extremely high level of quality and service from our employees, and being able to provide this level of training will help kick that level up another notch!" For employees this also gives them the ability to stay up to date in their technical skills as well as provide them with 'soft skills' training that is often times necessary to move into people/project management roles.
This grant will not only allow us to increase the skill set of our existing employees, but will also be instrumental in providing opportunities for new openings. DDS' first grant was awarded back in February 2000 in the amount of $267K.
